MOT Procedure

Identity
We check that your Registration matches your VIN and that both are valid

Brakes & Tyres
Brakes are tested for efficiency, condition, and ABS/ESC function. Tyres are checked for size, type, and a minimum 1.6mm tread depth

Steering
We check your steering wheel, steering column and linkages for wear and tear and correct function.

Windscreen and Mirrors
We check that screen, mirrors, washers and wipers are all in good condition and not damaged

Lights & Electrical
Headlights, sidelights, indicators, hazard flashers, brake lights and fog lights, all need to be clear and working

Seats & Seatbelts
Check the condition, wear, security and correct operation and adjustment of seats, check seatbelts for rips and damage and correct operation.

Dash and Warning lamps
Check function and visibility of dashboard warning lamps

Suspension and Shock absorbers
suspension components (including shock absorbers & springs) are checked for wear, corrosion, and security

Exterior & Structure
The vehicle structure is inspected for excessive corrosion. Doors and Bonnet are checked for secure closing and latching.

Fuel & Exhaust
The exhaust is checked for leaks and noise, and emissions are tested based on vehicle age.

Key Preparation
Before the test, ensure that your number plates are clean and legally formatted, all bulbs work, that there is sufficient screen wash and that your wipers clear your screen properly. You car can and will fail the test if these simple things don’t work!
